About AVIF to JPG

This AVIF to JPG converter turns an AVIF image into a JPG in your browser, free. Maybe you downloaded a .avif file and your phone, app, or an older program will not open it. This swaps it for a JPG that opens almost everywhere. Nothing is uploaded.

AVIF is a newer image format built to make photos very small, so websites use it to load pages faster. The catch is that many programs have not caught up. Right-click "Save image" on a modern site and you often get a .avif file back. Your photo viewer, an older phone, or a work app then refuses to open it.

JPG is the format that has worked everywhere for years, which is why converting is the quick fix. Once it is a JPG, the same picture opens in any viewer, uploads to any form, and drops into any document without a complaint.

The photo you see does not change when you convert. Your image keeps its full width and height, and the colours stay as they were, because the tool simply redraws the AVIF as a JPG. A see-through background cannot survive, since a JPG has no transparency, so any clear area is filled with plain white.

AVIF already packs photos tightly, so the JPG may come out a little bigger than the AVIF was. That is normal, and it is the price of a file that opens anywhere.

Some forms cap the file size, like a photo under 50 KB or 100 KB. Tick the compress box, type your number, and each JPG comes out at or just under it. The tool lowers the quality step by step, and shrinks the picture only if it must, so the file still looks like a photo.
